WORKSHOP #2
HONEY & HERBS COUGH SYRUP WORKSHOP
THE GARDEN IS YOUR MEDICINE CABINET
Saturday, January 14 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Peace Resource Center of San Diego
Workshop Fee: $25
25 participants maximum
Winter in San Diego may not entail blizzards and snow-days, but there is certainly a frosty chill in the air! It is the season of thicker wet-suits, crisp nights, sipping tea, and no matter how we fight it, coughs and colds.
Fortunately, here in southern California, we have access to citrus and other nutrient-rich foods that help us fend off infection. In fact, local gardens are a veritable medicine cabinet in the fight against seasonal maladies!
Come learn how to make your own cough syrup with Asali raw honey and locally wildcrafted and cultivated herbs!
Not only will you prepare a batch of herbal syrup together and go home with your own personal remedy, but you'll learn about the qualities of various herbs, especially those that are commonly available. We'll discuss the respiratory system and different patterns of coughs, as well as simple cough syrup modifications to treat different types of coughs.
Presenters: Herbalists Valerie Camacho and Rich Macgurn, coordinators of the Remedy Community Medicine Garden in City Heights.
